Jerky To Troops Puts Together Boxes In Big Rapids

It’s great to be able to let our troops know they are not forgotten, that’s why a local group is sending jerky to troops around the world, for the 15th year.

Organizers from Kelly’s Deer Processing in Big Rapids put together venison-based care packages for the troops.

Each hunting season they set aside hundreds of pounds of venison to make into jerky for the boxes.

They also include everything from newspapers to candy and even personal hygiene products.

Organizers will take donations for boxes, and ask for addresses of military members to send the boxes to.

“There are a number of times where a lot of the local soldiers are missing the hunting season so it’s a taste of home giving them some nice venison snacks. We have been doing this for 15 years and we appreciate all hard work that these young men and woman are doing to keep our country,” says Colin Kelly, event organizer.

150 boxes will be sent out Monday and Tuesday.
