Harrison Community Hosts Rally In Support Of School District Proposed Bond

A Clare County community coming together to discuss an important bond proposal on Tuesday’s ballot.

Voters in the Harrison community school district will vote on a 25 year 26.7 million dollar bond proposal.

It’s an increase of 1.5 mills or one dollar and fifty cents for every one thousand dollars of a property’s taxable value.

The money would be dedicated to fixing buildings in the district that parents and teachers say are old and rundown.

They say the money would also address safety and security concerns at the school.

Many, came out in support of the proposal.

“The kids are asking for the communities help, they are all wearing these stickers that we have today to show that they are worth five dollars, each child is worth so much more than that but at a minimum that’s a price anyone in community can afford,” says Betsy Ulicki, parent.

Voters head to the polls on Tuesday.
