Father Fred Foundation’s ‘Canstruction’ Event Gives Back To Community

A Northern Michigan food pantry is raising awareness for their community’s needs.

The Father Fred Foundation in Traverse City is holding their fifth annual Canstruction event.

Businesses sponsor a group of students that build a display of canned goods.

Seven different structures are on display at the Grand Traverse Mall to raise awareness for the need of different goods and services throughout the community.

The displays be up until the end of Saturday and then all of the cans will be donated to Father Fred.

“We are a blessed community,” says Father Fred Foundation director, Deb Haase. “We’re fortunate to have several food pantries and several opportunities, community meals or whatnot, in order to feed our neighbors who are having some challenges. And food is such a basic need. There is no reason for anybody in our community to go without food."
