Bill That Would Make Choose Life, Anti Abortion License Plates Available Heads To House

Michigan drivers could soon be able to buy a "choose life" license plate under legislation that passed the senate.

The bill would make the plate available for vehicle owners who pay an extra $35.

Proceeds would go to the Choose Life Michigan Fund, which was created by the anti-abortion group Right to Life Michigan.

Supporters say the money would end up back in the pockets of mothers who need it and choose to affirm life.

But Democratic Senator Rebekah Warren says it would be "the first and most politically blatant license plate we’ve ever had in our state."

The bill now heads to the house.
