Man Charged With Sault Ste. Marie Armed Robbery, Kidnapping

The man accused of driving to Canada after he robbed a gas station and kidnapped the station’s clerk is now charged with the crime.

The Sault Ste. Marie robbery happened earlier this year at the Admiral Gas Station at West Portage and Easterday.

Thomas Captain is now charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and stealing a car.

Captain is accused of stealing more than $900.

Police say he then kidnapped the clerk, and drove her 15 minutes down I-75. He then dropped her off unharmed.

Captain called police in Canada and turned himself in.

He’s been waiting to be extradited since the crimes happened.
