Traverse City DDA Considers Increasing Liquor License Investment Requirement

The Traverse City Downtown Development Authority met Friday morning, and a big topic on their agenda was liquor licenses.

Last week, the Downtown Traverse City Association voted unanimously to increase the $75,000 investment requirement for liquor licenses to $150,000.

This would apply to businesses in the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of East Front Street.

This vote comes after several downtown restaurants expressed concern regarding the city’s policy related to redevelopment project area liquor licenses.

The city hopes to keep a balance downtown between retail and bars and restaurants.

We’ll have more information about the proposal on 9&10 News at 6.
