Wexford County Commissioners Approve Plan Aimed At Helping 911 Services

A new plan could help a Northern Michigan county’s 911 services.

It was passed unanimously by Wexford County commissioners.

Sheriff Trent Taylor says the draft-in-the-works will help the county’s central dispatch get a much needed update, bringing a 2001 plan up to speed with 2017 technology like Next Generation 9-1-1.

He says the draft will also allow the county to create a 911 authority board, bringing the task of maintaining dispatch off of commissioner shoulders.

The draft is set to be ready by May 10.
