Grand Traverse Co. Storage Unit Break-In Investigation Leads To Three Arrests

Three people are charged with multiple felonies from crimes that spanned several months.

The Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office investigation started in February after storage units were found broken into.

Their investigation showed Amber McAllister was at Long Lake Stowaway when the break-ins happened.

She was talking with Marty Pennell about stealing items totaling more than $1,200.

Court documents also state the two cashed bad checks at Thirlby Automotive and TBA Credit Union earlier this year.

The sheriff’s office investigation on McAllister also led them to Gene Perritt.

Perritt was recently arrested for stealing video games from several Traverse City stores and selling them under a different name.

Perritt faces an organized retail crime charge, along with possession of burglar’s tools and identity theft.

McAllister and Pennell have been charged with breaking and entering, receiving and concealing stolen property and fraud charges.

All three are also habitual offenders and being held in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
