A 14-year-old boy who brought steak knives onto a Traverse City school bus will not face any charges.

On April 3, three steak knives fell out of the boy’s backpack as he got off the bus at East Bay Middle School.

The knives were handed over to the police.

They say they will not file charges.

It is up to the school to determine any punishment.

The student has a disciplinary hearing scheduled.

The school did not notify parents about the incident and declined to comment on the matter.
