Local Man Dresses As Jesus, Walks More Than Eight Miles With Cross On Back

“I think it’s important to remember what Jesus did for us.”

A local man, dressed as Jesus, walking with a cross on his back is becoming a Good Friday tradition.

Ed Lombard set out to demonstrate what Easter is all about by carrying a cross, and carrying it far.

A little more than eight miles, from Ludington to Scottville in Mason County.

It’s no easy feat, the cross weighs about 20 pounds.

And Ed says it takes a little training beforehand.

Lombard says this is what Easter is all about to Christians, Jesus’ struggles and sacrifice, not just eggs, bunnies and chocolate.

As Ed puts it, it’s the least he can do.

“It’s just a lot of reflection on your life and what he went through and how much he loves us, it’s just awesome. People will see the cross and acknowledge what Easter’s really all about,” Ed Lombard said.

This is Ed’s second year doing the cross walk.

He plans to continue until he can’t anymore.
