With warm temperatures picking up, anglers are hitting the lakes and the rivers.
With ice melted over the last few weeks, fisherman have been getting out on rivers and streams.
Jay’s Sporting Goods fishing department manager Mike says, pan fish and steelhead bite this time of year.
Friday, many people were in Jay’s looking for baits, reels and new poles, all for some spring fishing.
“Everyone should get out and enjoy the great Michigan weather because right after ice out its peak time to catch fish when they are very active and there’s a lot of stuff to see. You can get around easily, there’s a lot of opportunities,” says Mike Horswill, fishing department manager at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare.
He says anglers have found pan fish and steelhead to be active in shallower waters.
