Elk Rapids Public Schools Propose New Millage

The May 2 election is around the corner and some local schools are hoping their community supports their requests.

Elk Rapids Public Schools have proposed a .1 mill.

If passed, the proposal would maintain the current 1.26 millage rate and complete some of the projects that were left off the 2016 bond.

The .1 mill would cost a taxpayer of a $200,000 about $10 a year.

The school is hoping to build restroom and concession facilities by their athletic fields.

The baseball and soccer fields would also have a drainage system installed.

“At football games, at soccer games, any athletic event, we don’t have restroom facilities,” says Superintendent Steve Prissel. “We do have porta potties if you will, but we don’t have outside facilities, and it’s something we believe that we need and we’re being asked by community members to address it.”
