Former Richfield Township Public Safety Officer Accused Of Embezzlement, False Pretenses

We’re learning more details after Michigan State Police arrested a former public safety officer accused of stealing money from her department.

Troopers in Roscommon County say the former Richfield Township officer turned herself in last week on several charges.

The Wexford County Prosecutor, who has taken the case, says former lieutenant, Cindy Finkbeiner, is accused of three counts of getting paid between $1,000 and $20,000 under false pretenses.

She’s also charged with stealing more than $50 as a public official and common law fraud.

"Did somebody commit an act to make false statements that entitled them to make money?” says Jason Elmore, Wexford County Prosecutor. “Another one is embezzlement. Did a person do an act that caused them to obtain money that they did not have a right to?"

Finkbeiner could face up to 10 years in jail and five thousand dollars in fines if convicted.

She is set to be arraigned on April 27th.
