Grayling Breaks Ground on New Particle Board Plant

Governor Snyder also attending the groundbreaking for a new $400 million particle board plant in Grayling.

Plans for the plant were announced last year.

The entire facility will cover 820,000 square feet.

It’s expected to bring 250 jobs to the area.

The plant will make laminate panels used to make furniture and as wall paneling.

Construction is expected to be done in late 2018, leading to plenty of excitement in the area about the new jobs.

“Not only the jobs that this plant will create, but the ripple effect of the other jobs in the timber industry that this will also create, so again it’s not just the jobs it will create here, but again throughput the region,” said city manager Doug Baum.

The governor also toured Kirtland Community College in Grayling.
