Tillerson Issues Ultimatum To Russia Following Syria Chemical Attack

After last week’s missile attack in Syria, one of the biggest questions for the Trump Administration has been ‘what’s next?’

But Tuesday morning could provide an answer as U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visits Russia to talk about the country’s ties to the Syrian government.

Tillerson offered Russia an ultimatum Tuesday morning, saying the country must choose between aligning itself with the U.S. and its allies or embracing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

It comes after what the white house says was a chemical attack by the Syrian government on its own civilians.

Now, the U.S. is looking for answers from Russia about what kind of role it may have had in the attack.

Meanwhile, some mixed messages are coming from President Trump’s Administration, particularly when it comes to what should happen with Syrian President Assad.

Tillerson says Russia can play a role in Syria’s future but that aligning with Assad won’t serve Russia’s interests in the long run.
