Lake County Grass Fire Burns 10 Acres

A fire in Lake County got out of control and burned nearly 10 acres Sunday afternoon.

The Tustin Fire Department says that the fire was in a fire pit but with high winds, it spread quickly.

When fire departments arrived the fire had already scorched 4 acres.

It took 3 departments more than an hour to put the fire out.

“Remember to check with your DNR on the webpage, call the number just to make sure if there is any burning going on, even though you are in the proper containers and materials, if it gets away, it’s still your responsibility,” said Tustin Fire Chief Robert Rose.

No burning permits were being issued Sunday in much of Northern Michigan.
