Traverse City Central High School Students Remember Life Of Student Who Passed Away

Students and teachers at Traverse City Central High School are remembering the life of a beloved student.

Drake Tester passed away on March 26 from a seizure condition he was born with.

It only impacted him once every few years.

He was just a junior at Traverse City Central High School.

Drake was loved by many at the school.

One student said Drake was their first true friend in Traverse City, and that his smile could warm any winter.

He had a very kind soul.

We had kids stopping us in the hall to tell us how much of role model he was to all students at the school

Drake ran track and was in choir, but everyone knew him for his beatboxing skills.

Those we spoke with agreed his smile is what will really stick with them.

Even at such a young age, he made people feel at ease and left an incredible impact on other students.

“He treated every kid the same, you know? It didn’t matter who you were, what your status was, he treated everyone with respect and really kind of followed that golden rule of treating others the way you want to be treated. I think he really embodied that,” says Tim Odette, a teacher and student senate advisor.

A celebration of Drake’s life will be this Sunday at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Traverse City. For more information, click
