Dozens of Businesses Showcase Work at Job Fair in Gaylord

Dozens of local businesses gathered in Gaylord Thursday for the first Michigan Works! spring job fair.

Whether you’re interested in a career change or summer job, the open house had opportunities for everyone.

More than three dozen local businesses came to showcase their company and job openings.

The event brought out many familiar businesses and new ones.

The Fairfield Inn and Suites is the first hotel to open in Gaylord in the last 20 years.

They’re looking to fill 10 spots in their housekeeping department before they May 12 grand opening.

“We have some positions left for housekeeping, we’re still accepting applications for front desk night audit and we’re hoping to fill up the rest of our slots,” says Eileen Tussey, general manager of Fairfield Inn and Suites. “We are Michigan managed, Michigan built, Michigan loaned and Michigan instructed, and we’re really, really proud of that.”

Michigan Works! has two more spring job fairs set up.

Wednesday, April 12 in Grayling from 3-5pm at the Ramada Inn.

Thursday, April 20 in Alpena from 3-5pm at the Alpena Community College Park Arena.
