Spring Break Impacts Michigan Blood Donations, MI Blood Offers Incentives

While many are away enjoying spring break they’re not giving blood and supplies are low.

Hospitals across Michigan always need blood, but right now it’s getting crucial for type O-Negative.

Major donation sites like schools and universities are closed and people are vacationing, blood donations aren’t where they should be.

That’s why Michigan Blood is pushing even harder.

Allison Beers, Michigan Blood Traverse City Area Donor Center Community Outreach Coordinator, says, “Anyone that comes in this week will receive at $10 gift card to Target in the mail. We just want to get people in and remind them that with Michigan Blood you’re saving the life of a friend, neighbor or loved one because we’re the primary provider for blood for Munson Healthcare and all their affiliates.”

The promotion is only for those with O-Negative Blood and it ends Sunday April 9.
