Part of a Michigan highway is now named for a soldier killed in Afghanistan.
Part of US 23 in Genesee County, from Thompson Road to Bristol Road, is now named for Sergeant Joe Johnson.
Johnson was from Flint.
He was killed in 2010.
Governor Rick Snyder signed the legislation in his honor Thursday.
Senate sponsor Jim Ananich says it was a privilege to have Johnson’s family there to witness the bill signing, and that the state of Michigan will never forget his sacrifice.
