Mackinac Bridge North Tower To Be Repainted

The Mackinac Bridge is undergoing a facelift for the first time in its 60 year history.

The Mighty Mack’s towers will be stripped down to bare metal and repainted this spring.

Next Thursday, contractors will start the two-year project.

During the painting project, contractors will need to close the outside two lanes of the bridge near the north tower.

Lane closures will be lifted on Fridays and Sundays during peak traffic weekends.

The project will cost more than $6 million.
