Ford Recalls Thousands of Vehicles For Fire Risk, Door Latch Problem

Ford is recalling hundreds of thousands of vehicles due to multiple issues that can cause engines to catch fire and doors to open unexpectedly.

The recall covers more than 230,000 Escape SUVs, Fiesta ST sub-compacts, Fusion midsize cars and certain Transit Connect vans.

Ford says the engines can overheat, causing the cylinder head to crack and leak oil, which can catch fire.

Ford is also adding more than 200,000 vehicles to a previous recall to replace faulty door latches.

That recall includes the 2014 Fiesta and the 2013 and 2014 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ.
