Benzie Co. Officials To Discuss Moving Residents Into Maples Medical Care Facility

The Benzie County Department of Human Services board is meeting Tuesday morning to discuss moving residents into the new Maples building.

The Maples Medical Care Facility in Frankfort has been sitting empty for the past two years.

Inspections in 2015 showed the roof design was not up to code.

And since then, a number of changes have been made, including installing a new sprinkler system, fire retardant treatments, and smoke detectors.

The building authority in Benzie County says the Center for Medicare and Medicaid updated their Codes of life safety.

A move in date has not been set yet.

We’ll have a crew at Tuesday morning’s meeting, so stay with Northern Michigan’s News Leader as we work to bring you the latest details on the Maples Medical Care facility both on air and online.
