U.S. Reportedly Finalizing Sanctions To Punish Russia For Election Hacking
The U.S. is reportedly finalizing new sanctions to punish Russia for hacks related to the presidential election.
The Washington Post says we could see an announcement as early as this week.
This comes as some top Republican lawmakers brace for a showdown with Donald Trump.
The issue: whether or not Russia actually interfered with the 2016 race.
The CIA and the FBI have reportedly determined that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the hacking as an effort to help Trump win the White House.
The president-elect has dismissed those claims and questioned U.S. intelligence agencies in the process.
Top Republican lawmakers are convinced of Russia’s involvement in the election, including Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain.
