Traverse City Veterans Participate In Wreaths Across America

Veterans and families across America laid wreaths on memorials to honor veterans.

Traverse City veterans honored those who died with a wreaths across America ceremony.

It’s a national day for veterans that takes place every year during the Christmas season.

This is the second year Traverse City veterans have participated.

Veterans and their families lined up to lay a wreath.

They were placed at the foot of each monument in the Grand Traverse area veteran’s park.

Veterans say it’s special to be able to honor those who fought for our country.

“It’s to honor those past before us giving us the freedoms to today the freedom to go fishing or hunting or anything you want to do if it wasn’t for a lot of these people who lost their lives we probably wouldn’t have that today,” says Gary Hlavka, coordinator and Veteran.

The ceremony closed with the playing of taps and a gathering for veterans and their families.
