Cadillac’s Downtown Ice Rink Opens
Cadillac’s new downtown plaza is debuting its winter feature – an ice rink.
The city of Cadillac worked with the Michigan Municipal League to turn a parking lot into The Commons, a place for the community to use and enjoy.
The ice rink opens Friday.
It’s a synthetic rink, right next to the new fireplace.
Cadillac Mayor Carla Filkins says the purpose of this rink is to bring people together.
“My hope for this rink and this plaza is that, before it was a parking lot and now what we’ve created is, we’ve created a gathering space, a year round gathering space, where the people in the community can come together in fellowship and just have some fun outside the four walls of their house,” says Mayor Filkins.
The rink is free for anyone to use and open all day and night.
Skaters do need to bring their own skates.
