Early Thursday morning, a Grand Traverse County sheriff’s deputy was hit while responding to a call.
The Traverse City Police Department says the deputy was driving on US 31 south, just west of Chums Corner.
The deputy was responding to a suicidal person reportedly walking around that area.
He saw the person, activated his overhead lights and attempted to turn back to talk with the individual.
Police say Travis Sattler was driving behind the deputy, lost control of his car and hit the side of the cruiser.
He was ticketed for being unable to stop in a clear distance.
The deputy was not hurt.
