Nub’s Nob Ski Area Owner Dies After Suffering Stroke
A popular Northern Michigan ski resort’s long-time owner died over the weekend.
The owner of Nub’s Nob Ski Area, Walter Fisher, died Sunday after suffering a stroke earlier in the week.
Fisher lived downstate, but spent as much time as he could in Northern Michigan.
He loved to boat, hunt and ski and enjoy it all with his friends and family.
He also spent decades on the local hospital board.
Fisher’s employees say he treated them all with love and respect.
"Walter was one in a million," Nub’s Nob Ski Area general manager Jim Bartlett said. "I mean, really, one in a million. Just a gentleman a class guy."
Fisher’s funeral will be held at the Holy Childhood of Jesus Church in Harbor Springs in a few weeks.
