When temperatures are extremely cold, Cherryland Humane Society recommends not keeping your pet outside too long.
They say your pet should also drink plenty of water.
If they are outside they suggest you wipe their paws when they come in just in case they have salt on them.
Heidi Yates, Cherryland Humane Society Executive Director says, “Not only do we see a lot of cases of cats with frostbitten ears, paw pads that have had the same thing happen, tips of tales that have had frost bite.”
The humane society says if a pet has to be outside they need to have some sort of shelter.
