Mackinac Bridge Authority Issues High Wind Warning

Drivers are being asked to use caution near the Mackinac Bridge as strong winds work their way across the Straits of Mackinac.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority has issued a high wind warning to all drivers crossing the Mackinac Bridge.

They say vehicles particularly vulnerable to dangerous winds include pickup trucks with campers, motor homes, vehicles pulling trailers and enclosed semi-truck trailers.

Motorists are asked to slow down to a maximum of 20 miles per hour when approaching the bridge, turn their four-way flashers on and use the outside lane.

The bridge authority is monitoring wind speeds, and they say additional steps will be taken if conditions change.
