Trump Picks John Kelly As Next Secretary of Homeland Security

President-elect Donald Trump has picked John Kelly as the next secretary of homeland security.

Kelly is a retired four-star Marine Corps general.

He led the United States Southern Command and led troops in combat in Iraq.

He has not been formally offered the job just yet, because Kelly is out of the country.

Trump also revealed he has spoken to President Obama about potential administration cabinet picks.

"I take his recommendations very seriously. And there are some people that I will be appointing, and in one case I have appointed, where he thought very highly of that person," said Trump.

Tuesday night, Trump formally introduced General James Mattis as his pick to be secretary of defense.
