Prime Minister of Japan Plans Historic Visit to Pearl Harbor
The prime minister of Japan says he will visit Pearl Harbor with President Barack Obama.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced Monday morning he will make the trip with President Obama at the end of this month.
He also says he plans to hold a final summit meeting there with President Obama before he leaves office.
The visit will make him the country’s first leader to visit the historic site.
Earlier this year, President Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to visit the memorial to victims of the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima at the end of World War II.
