Traverse City Michigan Works Reacts To Lower Unemployment Rate

The U.S. unemployment rate is now at the lowest level since 2007.

The U.S. economy added 178,000 jobs in November which is about what was expected.

The unemployment rate landed at 4.6%.

It was helped by the fact more Americans stopped looking for work.

The Operations Manager for Northwest Michigan Works says there are still many jobs available that are normally filled.

"It’s nice to draw attention to it, but I think there are some things that can help draw attention to the area and help employers and people and there are a lot of groups that are trying to do that," said Jane Butzier.

Jane says different community groups are working on things like affordable housing and better transportation in Traverse City, that would help attract more workers.
