Manistee Man Arrested for Armed Robbery in Grawn

A man is in custody after Grand Traverse County deputies say he robbed a gas station with what a clerk thought was a gun.

Grand Traverse County deputies say it all started around 5 Friday morning when they got a call about an armed robbery.

Deputies say a man wearing dark clothes and ski mask showed a hand gun at the Shell Gas Station in Grawn and asked the attendant for money in the cash register.

Then another call from Walmart in Traverse City about a man with a gun.

Deputies were able to arrest him there.

At Walmart, deputies say they arrested a 25-year-old Manistee man for armed robbery just before 7 Friday morning.

It all started at the Shell Gas Station on US 31 and Silver Lake Road.

The attendant told deputies a white man wearing dark clothes and a ski mask showed gun and asked for money, then when he got the money left on foot.

The sheriff’s office responded with dogs to track him.

Then they got a call from Walmart.

An employee told deputies the man seemed to be passed out in the store. When they tried to wake him he jumped up, ran grabbing a hand gun.

That’s when the store was evacuated and he was detained.

The sheriff’s office credits everyone involved for being able to catch the man.

They say he had a pellet gun.

He’s now at Munson Medical Center to get cleared, then will be taken to the county jail.
