President-elect Donald Trump has chosen South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley as the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
If the Senate confirms Trump’s selection, Haley, an Asian-American woman, would become the first female, non-white cabinet-level official in the Trump administration.
And while Trump continues to make his appointments, he is also trying to address questions about conflicts of interest between his presidency and his sizable business interests around the world, claiming that he believes he can find a balance between managing both the country and his organizations.
But some politicians are voicing their concerns, believing it could provide too much distraction while he’s in office.
Trump did say that he plans to step away from most of his business entanglements while in office, promising to pass them off to his children, but it’s not yet clear when he will take that step.
