Manistee County Chase: Man Arrested for Stealing Ohio Car, Breaking Into Homes

In this update, we’re learning more details after a man led police on a high speed chase late Tuesday night in Manistee County.

State Police say a trooper tried to pull over the man after clocking him over 80 mph on M-55…a 55 mph zone.

The man then sped up and turned down Moss Road in Norman Township.

Trooper Ryan Krebiehl was the officer in the chase.

He says the driver reached speeds over 100 mph before stopping and running on foot.

He was able to catch up to him on private property and arrest him.

He then discovered the car was stolen from Oregon, Ohio.

"I think it’s highly important,” Krebiehl says. “This person is linked to several breaking-and-enterings of residences and also destruction of property by breaking into other vehicles. It seemed like he had quite a crime wave coming up from Ohio. I’m glad we could get him taken care of."

Troopers say the man is also linked to several break-ins in Ohio and Michigan.

He is yet to be arraigned.
