Kia Recalls Sportage SUVs Over Fire Concerns

Thousands of Kia SUV drivers are having their vehicles recalled because a short can cause engine fires.

This recall covers Sportage models made from 2008 to 2009.

Kia says water containing road salt can end up in the braking control computer.

That can cause wiring connectors to rust and a circuit board to short, possibly sparking a fire.

Dealers will offer a fix if they find rust on the wires.

If there’s no rust, they’ll replace a cover.

The recall starts next week.
