A local credit union is hosting a food drive to help people in need in our area.
You can bring in donations to any of Forest Area Credit Union’s branches in Fife Lake, Manton, Kingsley or Kalkaska.
Proceeds go to eight different food pantries, all in those areas.
The credit union board will match donations up to 7,500 dollars.
A tradition that started 10 years ago and lasts through the whole month of November.
“We actually had people come in this year with donations knowing this was coming starting before November 1. People really dig in,” Teller and Community Education Liaison Nicole Gibson said. “They wanna help people in their community. Every community we have up here in northern Michigan I have found are just gracious and awesome.”
Last year, the drive raised more than 16,000 dollars with the board’s matching funds.
