Canvassers in Emmet County are recounting votes to determine whether a deer park will stay open.
People living in Harbor Springs just can’t seem to agree what to do about the deer park that’s been a part of town for decades.
A proposal on the ballot asked voters whether having wild animal enclosures should be allowed in the city.
On Election Day, the community voted in favor of keeping the park open by just six votes.
Someone has filed a petition to get that vote recounted.
The Emmet County clerk says everyone has received notice.
They will schedule a time to recount after the state finishes their canvas at the end of this month.
