Flint Water Crisis Class-Action Lawsuit Will Go To Local Court

A class-action lawsuit over the Flint Water Crisis will go to local court, not federal.

A federal appeals court made the decision Wednesday.

Engineering company, Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam, is being sued over its work at the Flint Water Treatment Plant.

Residents accuse the company of failing to ensure the plant could treat Flint River water for corrosion.

The corrosive water caused lead to leach from the pipes, contaminating Flint’s water supply.

The company denies it’s responsible for the problem.

The appeals court says it’s a local controversy that belongs in Genesee County.
