Detectives say an Ionia County woman tried to hire someone to kill the father of her children.
Detectives were tipped off by someone who knows Kristina Johnston and the man who was the reported target.
Investigators say Johnston was caught texting someone who she thought was her hit man.
The person on the other side of the messages was actually an undercover officer.
The sheriff’s department says Johnston was ready to pay thousands of dollars.
Detectives say it looks like the case may have been spurred by a custody dispute.
