Roscommon County Crews Battle 20-Acre Fire

It’s a day circled on every hunters calendar and it’s finally here–opening day for firearm deer hunting.

The unofficial holiday in Northern Michigan is not only big for hunters, but is also a billion dollar industry in the state.

Over the next 15 days restaurants, bars, hotels and sporting goods stores will be raking in the cash from hunters.

But opening day has its fair share of accidents.

Right now, we have a crew on the scene of a 20-acre fire in Roscommon County’s Nester Township.

Crews say it started when hunters were trying to make lunch and the fire got out of control.
