Republican Bill Huizenga Wins Second Congressional District Seat

The second district covers Ludington and Southern Lake and Newaygo counties.

Republican Bill Huizenga now holds the second district seat in Congress.

His Democratic challenger was Dennis Murphy.

With 74 percent of precincts reporting, Bill Huizenga will keep his job — even without every precinct reporting — the Associated Press has called this race for Huizenga.

His focus now turns to the national level in Washington where this election has shifted the path this country is heading in.

“This is a watershed kind of election and we saw this back in 1992 in many as with Ross Perot,” said U.S. House District Two Republican Bill Huizenga. “I think the country is going to be taking it a different direction.”

Congressman Huizenga also says he and fellow lawmakers will be looking towards replacing the Affordable Care Act — as well as re-working the nation’s tax policy and tax code.
