The Michigan Department of Transportation now has a new email alert system.
It will tell drivers about accidents, construction projects, detours and road closures impacting traffic in the Upper Peninsula.
Right now, email alerts will be available in 15 counties in the U.P. including Alger, Chippewa, Luce, Mackinac and Schoolcraft counties.
The emails are designed to help drivers make smarter travel decisions and decrease delays.
