Free Health Screenings Prep Hunters for Season

A free healthcare screening helped hunters get healthy.

Friday November 4 — Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Clare provided free health screenings to Jay’s Sporting Goods shoppers preparing to hunt.

They provided cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure screenings as well as BMI information.

There were also free drawings and educational handouts.

The health professionals wanted to raise health awareness before firearm season starts.

“If they are fortunate enough to get that big buck, carrying that kind of weight and they’re not used to that kind of stress can cause extra stress in the heart and on their health, and they’re out in remote areas where there’s not always help available,” said Community Education Nurse Mary Griffore.

Mid-Michigan Medical Center provided completed more than 54 screenings.
