In its inaugural event in 1990, a mere 35 participants competed in the annual cycling event. Fast forward to last year’s 25th Iceman, over five thousand competitors journeyed to northern Michigan, coming from Canada and 36 other states. The Kalkaska-to-Traverse City route is 29 miles in length and includes the most beautiful terrain in the region, including the Vasa Trail and Pere Marquette State Forest. is held traditionally on the first Saturday of November and today we take you to the finish line at Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City for a Friday preview.
