Mecosta County Community Foundation Hosts Philanthropy Day

It was a big day of giving back to local nonprofit groups in Big Rapids.

The Mecosta County Community Foundation held their 7th annual Philanthropy Day in the community Tuesday.

People could come in and talk with 57 local nonprofits.

They then could decide which ones to donate to. The community foundation then matched their donation.

Tuesday afternoon they had already raised more than $600,000.

They say it’s an incredible way to give back to organizations that make a huge difference.

“I think it’s an opportunity to bring awareness to some of the situations that are going on in the community, and so it’s an opportunity for people to actually come see what’s going on in the community, see where the money is needed ,and actually make a difference and give money directly to that organization,” said Foundation Treasurer Tom Tacia.

The foundation hoped to raise $1,000,000 by the end of the day.
