Jack’s Journal: Halloween Haunted House

Halloween is his favorite holiday, and the reason is simple.

“Scaring people is fun to do!” says Frank Foote.

Since he was a kid, he’s loved Halloween, taking old cardboard boxes and crafting haunted houses for his buddies.

“I remember the old cardboard cutout skeletons. We would hang them in there and go through with flashlights on our knees,” says Frank.

Today, he goes a whole lot bigger, taking the back room of his business each year and converting it to a haunted house.

This year’s theme was ‘haunted asylum’, a combination of props, costumed actors and mechanical spooky stuff. Frank builds it up each year to throw a private party for friends and family, a far cry from the cardboard box days.

“I kinda stepped away for a little while, but the enthusiasm has come back in a big way,” explains Frank.

He’s favorite is Frankenstein. His office is crammed with collectables and scary stuff. He’s got so much stored away he sometimes self-inflicts a scare!

“I’ll put props in places and I’ll forget where at times. I’ll go to turn a light on and it is dark and it’s right there. I’ve jumped a few times,” says Frank.
