Hook & Hunting: Hunting Benefits

As bow season continues and hunters look forward to firearm season, the DNR says the benefits of hunting in Northern Michigan are countless.

The DNR says there were 600,000 hunters in Michigan for last year’s season.

Local businesses saw more customers as sportsmen head upstate.

Plus, bagging a deer supplies lean meat for families throughout the winter.

An activity that brings generations of families together.

“So for many people, deer hunting is just that tradition they may have had since being a kid that they’re extending to their young and their family as their family changes throughout the years,” Katie Keen, DNR Game Technician.

The DNR also reminds hunters that deer with less than three antler points on each side cannot be harvested in certain counties.
