This past weekend kids 16 and under got a chance to get a head start on the deer hunting season.
The Youth Hunt offers a chance to learn and experience deer hunting before the regular deer hunting season.
It’s only one weekend, but Jay’s Sporting Goods’ hunting department says they are busy with more families every year.
And the best part is hearing those successful hunting tales from young people who want to be life-long hunters.
Hunting department manager Kenny Slavens says, “I had a first time hunter come in last week with his dad for hunting. Dad hadn’t hunted for years, asked me some questions; kid ended up shooting a real nice buck and I’m pretty sure that kid is hooked for life now.”
